we are a handful

For this piece 350 lbs. of sand was filled into 11 handsewn, hand gilded vinyl bags, and then set out underneath the staircase at the McNay Museum Stieren Center for Contemporary Art in San Antonio, Texas. The bags were installed and left untouched for a week on exhibit, pre-performance. For the premier of “we are a handful”  Britt Lorraine entered the exhibit space and moved the bags (each weighing approximately 25-35lb.) often rigorously, for a full hour. Post-performance the bags were left out on exhibit for another week just as Britt walked away from them.
